Roma
May 16th
We said goodbye to Praiano this morning and ciao to Roma! A fast train got us from Naples to Rome in an hour, and we had a quick afternoon and evening to explore Rome and all its glory!

Impressive architecture |
Looking down at where they kept the animals under the arena floor |
We learned arena comes from latin word "harena" meaning sand |
The floor of the arena was covered in sand, hence it's name |

Into the Forum, where ancient Roman life is palpable as you walk among the ruins. I love Rome!
Out of The Forum and back into the Roman Streets. Had to visit one of my favorite buildings, The Vittoriano. A monument in the heart of the capital that symbolizes the Italian acceptance of democratic and European values, and their denunciation of fascism. It was built after the death of the first king of Italy in 1878.
We caught a wedding party taking photos |
This symbol was all over southern Italy; we loved it :) |
Have to get a gelato stop in |
