La Grand-Mere in Toulouse

Grammy came to visit us in Toulouse for ten days. We packed in all the shopping and eating we could! Jay was in the Netherlands for a conference for most of her visit, which meant we had to drag Finn around shopping. He was a great sport though and bribing him with French desserts and a trip to the Haribo store helped his spirits.

Anyone who knows my mom, knows she is a Francophile, so her visit was extra special and something we had all been looking forward to for a long time! She spoke French with the locals like a pro - she's still got it!

  1. Sarah, you perfectly captured the highlights of my unforgettable visit with you! Every time I read this I get teary reliving these special moments. It was wonderful to see Toulouse through your eyes and to get a glimpse of what your life has been like on your journey en France. I will always remember the morning walks to la boulangerie, shopping with you and Maggie as my personal shoppers, Finn’s unbelievable patience and hearing him order banafee and saying merci beaucoup, and, of course, the best desserts and food, ever! Sarah, thank you for everything you did to make this trip possible and for giving me memories to last a lifetime! Maggie and Finn, thank you for showing me Toulouse and for being such wonderful, loving grandchildren! Jay, we didn’t have much time together, but our last evening at the best restaurant was so much fun. We’ll catch up when you come to Chicago this summer. As always, I loved being with all of you! Thank you!
    Love, la Grandmere
